I Knew We Would Get to This Point

“And remember, if you don’t overthrow your elites, they will kill you or make your life unbearable. It’s you or them, and so far, it’s you.”

Ian Welsh has taken off the kid gloves. You might want to read his latest post, but be warned it is depressing. I include a couple more excerpts.

The Decision to Let Covid Go Chronic

“Life is wonderful. Modern neoliberal capitalism is the most amazing economic system ever created — one so finely engineered by two generations of intellectuals, bureaucrats, and politicians that it turns even a plague into a massive profit event for the rich.

“And, really, as anyone who isn’t rich is obviously a worthless loser who doesn’t add value to society, because money obviously accurately measures value, this is as it should be.”

  2. the fix is in, as the saying goes. There is no doubt about that. The whole system is geared towards keeping the poor, poor, and keeping the rich, rich.

  3. One of the comments on the blog post you referenced: The “progressive” faction … is committed to a distributive economic system, which the elites and their minions will not and cannot allow.

IMO, this pretty well sums up most everything that’s going on here and in most of the world. The virus is simply another factor that helps “make it happen.”

    • Yep. Redistribution is a dirty word in those circles, yet that is what the rich have been doing for the past 40 years. It is bad only when we do it.

  4. Bear with me a minute Steve while I (seemingly, at first) go a tiny bit off topic. It will make sense at the end. 😉

Earlier tonight I watched on PBS NOVA their show called “Asteroid: Doomsday or Payday?” NOVA is one of many PBS shows I love to catch every Wednesday evening! Anyway, in one portion of the show discussing the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor strike that completely surprised, caught off-guard our worldwide asteroid detection systems at that time, was a slap in the face harsh reality check for 21st-century humanity, civilization rich or poor, it made no difference. So there is always a catastrophic economic loss to ANY economic infrastructures directly hit and inside the massive shockwave circle. The devastation is essentially the same on Earth by forces of earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanos, tsunamis, etc, etc… OR by celestial catastrophes such as the 1908 Tunguska and 2013 Chelyabinsk asteroids. Board Director & Executive Director Dr. Edward Lu of the B612 Foundation* whose sole mission is to discover and deflect killer asteroids headed to hit Earth said in this segment of the show:

In 1908 with the Tunguska strike we were 1) incredibly lucky it hit a unpopulated area in Siberia, and 2) we were unlucky because back then we didn’t have the technology, science, or means to discover that massive asteroid nor stop it from hitting Earth. Today, that is NOT the case! We do have all the necessary tech, science, and resources to actually discover deadly asteroids soon enough AND intervene somehow, IF we have sufficient time. Today, NOT doing anything isn’t unlucky like in 1908. Today that would be negligence.

Dr. Lu went on to describe this one BAD psychological fault that humans have—especially those who think too highly of themselves, that they are impervious to natural disasters or that their wealth can provide a seemingly immortal life for them or that they don’t need other humans around the world to survive, etc, etc. Well Steve, obviously that mindset is grossly naïve and repulsively wrong, right? 🙄

Now here’s my relative point to your blog-post subject here. Anyone on this planet who believes they are that psychologically flawed, fooled, self-deluded person that Dr. Lu was implicitly referring to—asteroid hit or deadly invisible (to the human eye) pandemic like COVID-19 and its future mutant variants—is truly TRULY the moron of the lowest order with no rational foresight. Regarding COVID and now again with the Delta variant on the unvaccinated, and possibly eventually on the fully vaccinated (requiring boosters) as well… you are literally playing Russian Roulette. 🤦‍♂️

    • At the time, I thought the Chelyabinsk meteor was too small to “see” with the systems in place. Even if we were able to track all of the meteors which could do damage, there is nothing we could do about them, other than evacuate the predicted strike regions.

And, I suspect at some point, penny-pinching politicians will try to save money and cancel the system (remember the US stockpile of personal safety devices or whatever they are called?).

      • Yes, the Chelyabinsk meteor actually was undetected because it approached Earth from the Sunward direction. Hence, our detection network could not find it due to blinding glare and the fact that our telescopes work primarily on NIGHT skies for better visibility. Thus, almost immediately B612, NASA, JPL, etc, began programs in 2013 to send an infrared telescope (I believe?) toward the Sun to help alleviate this blind-spot. Sadly, that program was defunded & stopped in 2015.* 🤦‍♂️ Apparently in the “BIG” picture of funding, it was too costly—as opposed to a massive asteroid hitting Earth from the Sunward side would NOT be a lot more costly! (shakes head in disbelief) Jebus H. Christmas!

This NEGLIGENCE is exactly what I’m pointing out here, whether it is confronting asteroids/meteors or getting every single person on Earth fully vaccinated against a deadly airborne virus like COVID and its constantly mutating variants… it is negligence by all the people & nations with the sufficient resources, technology, and organizational know-how to get it done! But they consciously choose to continue playing Russian Roulette instead—which btw, Earth is not “the House” which over time always, ALWAYS wins.

Steve, I see a lot of similarities in human behavior/cognition of “if it doesn’t happen to me personally, in my lifetime, then I won’t take it serious. It doesn’t affect me.” See what I mean? If you think your wealth, status, fame, arrogance, etc, will obtain you impunity and (imaginary) immortality, whether an individual, a group, or a nation, you are incredibly deluded! PERIOD!

        • In four simple words THIS is humanity’s WINNING formula vs LOSING formula:

Inclusion + Tolerance = Thriving peace and progress … otherwise…

Exclusion + Intolerance = Decay, perpetual fracturing, death, and extinction.

          Quite simple, huh?

          • Yep, and not just the U.S. (when it is led by the party whose mascot is an elephant—an insult to all elephants!), but too many other “1st World” highly developed nations with the resources to unequivocally do something about it. It’s maddening Steve. 😡🤦‍♂️

            • It is also a comment on our survivability as a species. If we keep doing less or other than what we know works, it just accelerates our demise.
