According to the Pew Research Center’s survey “Public’s Views on Human Evolution” Republicans are less inclined today than they were in 2009 to say that humans have evolved over time (43% today vs. 54% in 2009), while opinion among Democrats has risen from 64% to 67%. This has happened while there have been no shifts in support for the Theory of Evolution among scientists, no changes in evidence, no nothing. And at last report the Theory of Evolution is a scientific theory, one that is supposed to be judged on the evidence.
That’s a big drop—from 54% to 43%—so, either Republicans have been culling off scientific types and being ignorant is just the price of admission to the cult, or this is something Republicans have to espouse to create solidarity with one another.
In either case, this is another example of the once proud Republican Party, the party I agreed with more often or not in my youth, having fallen upon hard times. The Republicans of my youth wouldn’t be allowed into the party today. I wonder when Colin Powell will be expelled?
The current crop of Republicans are learning fast what it takes to hew the party line, but they aren’t evolving into something better.

It not a pleasant prospect SOM when it refers to the Party of your choice but the sad truth is they have brought this upon themselves. When people are polled about the members of Congress, Republicans always score lower than Democrats do and likely for no other reason than the GOP surrendered to a group of small-minded, backward-thinking people that were popular for a few weeks. The GOP sold its soul to the TeaParty crowd and now they are having to suffer the consequences of it. Deal with it

Yes and it’s too bad they don’t duly serve the constituents that they are supposed to represent. This applies to many within the Democratic party too but the GOP has demonstrated over the last few years that monied interests, not voters are who they answer to more. And let’s not forget, many of those “duly elected” officials won their seats in large part to the gerrymandering of the GOP following the 2010 elections.
Your generalization about elections is rather naive my friend.
