The televised ordeal of the despicable Kevin McCarthy twisting, twisting slowly in the wind is a predicable outcome of the path the Republican Party has been on these past few decades. They have constantly undermined government and nongovernment institutions in their efforts. (“Government is not the solution to our problem, government is the problem.” Ronald Regan) Unfortunately for the Republicans, one of the nongovernment organizations they have undermined is the Republican Party.
By enabling extremists and welcoming them and empowering them in their party, they are reaping what they have sowed. As one wag put it “They can’t even manage a ‘Red Wave’ in their own party!” Let us hope that their Red Wave is a “bye-bye” wave as they sink slowly into the swamp of history.

I must admit to experiencing a bit of schadenfreude at the antics going on in the house at the moment. I am not disappointed by the amount of time this is taking either. Every day they prolong this, is another day we don’t have to endure the gop launching into an endless string of “investigations” into Biden’s, well, everything, really. And as for them getting nothing done when it comes to actually governing the country, several of them already publicly declared that is exactly what is going to happen, nothing. They will refuse to cooperate with anything the democrats want to do.
The rest of the country is now going to be experiencing what we’ve been enduring here in Wisconsin for the last four years, with a state legislature that refuses to do anything and tries to blame it on the democratic governor. Evers was just sworn in for his 2nd term this week and we are STILL waiting for the legislature to have approval hearings for 180 of his appointees from his first year in office four years ago.

I still don’t understand how any politician can reasonably make the case “first, government is the problem, and second, I want to be a part of it”
