Biden and Trump and Their Churches

Ain’t religion grand?

Donald Trump was embraced by Evangelical Christians despite his many, many, many, many, many flaws and character failings. Joe Biden is on the brink of being thrown under their religious bus by American Catholic Bishops for a single failing. They want to deny him holy communion because he supports a pregnant woman’s right to choose.

Please, oh, please, Catholic Bishops, do follow through. I love it when folks who are on a slippery slope actively grease the skids.

According to Gallup polls, the Catholic Church in America lost nearly 20 percent of its parishioners between 2010 and 2020. American Catholic women support the right to choose and the right to use artificial birth control in high percentages, so the all-male bishops can accelerate the decline of the Catholic Church into irrelevance. (Even the Vatican has warned them off from doing this. Egad!)

Go, Bishops, go!

    • Hi, John,

The US is burning (in the west anyway). How’s the weather in Brazil?

        • I thought that if we were having an unusual summer, you might be having an unusual winter.

          • Colder than usual. Tonight it says it’s going to be 4 degrees… which is way, way, way colder than it’s ever been here in the valley.

            • So, climate change in the US went from “It’s fake, it’s fake, . . . it’s here!” How susceptible to rising ocean levels are you? Aren’t you near a waterway?

              • Here in the valley, we’re fine. Mountains to the left and mountains to the right. Heap of places along the coast might be in a bit of bother, though.

                • We are a thousand miles inland from the nearest ocean, connected by lakes and rivers to that ocean, so we are not immune to problems. Of course, having many trillions of gallons of fresh water in our backyard cannot be considered a bad thing.

                  Cheers, my friend!

  2. Well, you see, it’s this way. The Catholic Church wants to demonstrate their “high morals” as related to the established LAWS of the Church, e.g., communion (overlooking, of course, the sins of the priests); whereas the Evangelicals do a hunt and search for bible scriptures that will (at least vaguely) justify any action/decision that they choose to make.

  3. That they have the gall to try to condemn someone on moral grounds is mind boggling. After the mass graves recently discovered at the schools in Canada, the human remains found in a cess pit at a home for unwed young women in Ireland (and that was just one of many such facilities run by the catholic church), trying to cover up the sexual abuse of thousands of children by hundreds of priests, the abuse of nuns, and hundreds of other documented cases of abuse and fraud, they have absolutely no credibility left.
