We Need to Unleash Businesses!

In the never ending battle with industry stifling red tape, only the GOP is seen as a stalwart in the effort to deregulate our industries. In the latest wave of deregulation by the GOP, they have decided the rules on where and how to dispose of radioactive waste are choking the nuclear industry.

What the flaming fuck?

Right, if it weren’t for those pesky regulations, our nuclear industry would be surging ahead. Forget about the Colorado corporation which disposed of tons of radioactive waste by just spreading it out on the ground instead of following those pesky regulations. That was clearly an example of why those regulations aren’t needed, because people aren’t obeying them. The fact that that corporation went belly up before their novel disposal techniques were discovered, leaving us with the cleanup bill, is irrelevant. In this day and age, corporations wouldn’t do something like that because it would damage their good reputation.

The GOP has given us so much. By demonizing young black males (thank you Dick Nixon, Ronald Reagan, etc.) we now apparently have an open season to hunt and kill young, male black joggers.

By demonizing regulations of all kinds, we now have the GOP lifting child labor laws and now radioactive waste disposal regulations. “Uh, regulation . . . bad,” one GOP politician was quoted as saying.

By demonizing taxes, the GOP has ballooned the budget deficit and therefore the national debt hugely, biggly even. This followed, of course, several efforts of the GOP to shut the federal government down because the deficit/debt was getting too high. That that was not a moral or even a principled stand has now been laid bare.

No one is in favor of unnecessary regulation of our society. That the GOP has declared that all regulation is unnecessary should chill you to the bone.

Oh, and you thought this would be about loosening pandemic business restrictions. Well, ’tis not.

  1. You missed the FAA and Boeing

CEO Dennis Muilenberg was addressing Wall Street on a conference call on April 26, 2017. He boasted about how quickly the company had brought the 737 Max to market — and praised the Federal Aviation Administration’s “streamlined” certification process. He attributed that to the pro-business philosophy of the new Trump administration.

“That’s helping us more efficiently work through certification on some of our new model aircraft such as the [737] Max as it’s going through flight test and entering into service,” he told analysts. “So we’re already seeing some benefits there of some of the work that’s being done with the FAA.”

Weeks later, Boeing would deliver its first 737 Max.

    346 people killed.

Today, Boeing faces one of the most serious crises in its 103-year history.

Everything Trump touches turn to shit.

    • There are so many “deregulations” that want me to just puke: the removal of the restrictions on dumping coal mine waste into fresh water rivers, the gutting of Dodd-Frank (although Obama allowed a lot of this, too), and on and on.

  2. If it were not for liberal and moderate Americans who understand the critical necessity of law and order along with sufficient over-sight, the U.S. would digress into a non-stop dog-eat-dog society, the Wild Wild West of the 18th & 19th centuries where criminals and gangs make their own rules for everybody. Remember some of them?

    • Billy the Kid and his Regulators
    • The Dalton Gang
    • The Clanton Gang (The Cowboys)
    • Dodge City Gang led by Hyman G. Neill, better known as Hoodoo Brown
    • “The Innocents” led by Henry Plummer
    • Butch Cassidy’s “Wild Bunch”
    • Five Joaquins Gang of brothers & friends
    • Soap Gang led by Jefferson R. Smith II
    • Rufus Buck Gang
    • Daly Gang

And Steve, this is only a very small sampling! All of them brought out to Nevada, Oklahoma, Montana, Utah, South Dakota, Colorado, etc, during the Gold and Silver Rushes where there was no jurisdiction except for Native American tribes. ZILCH! No regulations whatsoever and damn sure no oversight except at the end of a gun-barrel. THAT was territories without any law and order… essentially what tRumpfy and the GOP want to return to if given no resistance. And Steve, if you really want to get your blood-pressure up to a boil, check this out:

That tracker helps one monitor a selection of delayed, repealed, and new rules, notable guidance and policy revocations, and important court battles across eight major categories, including environmental, health, labor, and more beginning in Jan. 2017.
