Fake News from a Fake President

Filed under: Politics — Steve Ruis @ 2:11 pm

We have seen an effort by the media in recent hours to use the sinister acts of one individual to score political points against me and the Republican party,” he said. “The media’s constant unfair coverage, deep hostility and negative attacks only serve to drive people apart and to undermine healthy debate.” Donald Trump, October 25th, 2018

To which I reply: See photo of accused bomber’s van, especially “I am Donald Trump and I approve this message.” (middle window) Also note the telescopic rifle sight circles (⊕) and who they are applied to.

  1. Never thought it possible to loathe a human being as much as I loathe Trump. The man is disgusting at every level.

          • What’s the point in listening to him? Every word out of the man’s mouth is a lie. He couldn’t even be truthful about his height and weight.

To paraphrase somethign I saw a while ago: Evangelicals have been screaming warnings about the Antichrist for hundreds of years, and when he finally turns up, they voted for him.

        • The umbrella thing? Are you referring to him holding an umbrella for himself even though he also had one of his ‘maga” hats in his hand, but did NOT allow the umbrella to cover the bare head of his wife? Well, all this old man can say to that incident is; Trump sure has class. The lowest of low class ever. Wish she had hit him squarely in his butt ugly face on camera, then called her own lawyer to get a divorce. Trump is, in the words of old Bugs Bunny, a maroon.

  3. One thing about this maroon going on and on….nearly forever about the “media” is that he is starting to frighten some folks. This sort of crapola could get not so very old ‘Merikkka into another civil war. I think the guy needs a leash, or better yet a stun collar, set on the highest setting. Open mouth, say something stupid, get a big shock. Would not hurt me in the least. And YES, if you were wondering, that last sentence was intended to be snarky/sarcastic.

      • Oh, definitely. Never did see what made Mickey Rat so popular. Now, going way back, Crusader Rabbit was my first TV cartoon that I have vague memories of. Rocky and Bullwinkle were the best during 7th and 8th grades for my friends and me. We’d catch the show after school and then use the jokes as often as possible the next day.
The best part of living in the TV area of Lost Angeles then was we got one hour of cool after school. R&B were on for the half hour, followed by another half hour of Soupy Sales! Fun times were had. Ah, yes, life was almost good back then.

  5. I think the guy sending the bombs is crazy.
If he had covered his van in Obama stickers, I would shrug and say, “Crazy guys do crazy things.”
Suggesting that Donald Trump is somehow responsible for a crazy dude’s behavior is exactly silly. The reason Trump tweets about the “effort by the media…to use the sinister acts of one individual to score political points against me and the Republican party” is because people are so easily manipulated by the press.

I have seen videos of Mr. Trump referring to journalists and political opponents in vile terms, encouraging violence toward them. Especially calling journalists “Enemies of the People.” What do you think will happen in such an atmosphere, knowing that a President’s audience includes a wide spectrum of people, including the mentally unstable?

            • No one is saying it is “his fault.” They are saying he contributed to an atmosphere in which such actions were considered more acceptable than if he hadn’t made the remarks he made. You can’t say ‘Someone ought to put a bullet in his head.’ over and over and then be shocked when someone puts a bullet in a guys head.

I’m attempting to point our your double standard. You blame Trump’s rhetoric for contributing to the atmosphere of violence while excusing your own rhetoric of any negative consequences. If Trump incites violence, so do you.

My position remains that neither Trump, nor Steve Ruis, is responsible for when crazy people do crazy things.

As a teacher I was help responsible for creating a safe learning environment for my students. If I commented frequently about how despicable one group of students were or one student was, and that student(s) got beat up outside of class, do I share no responsibility?
