Why Lies Matter

Apparently our “intelligence agencies” are concerned with the frequency with which President Trump tells obvious lies, you know the kind of lie that is so obviously a lie that even Fox (sic) News admits it. The reason that the intelligence agencies (Fedburin, CIA, NSA, etc.) are concerned is that they need us to believe their lies when they have the President deliver them. What good is a president to them when a majority of people in the U.S. have no faith in whatever he says. They need presidential credibility to sell their future lies and that has to be built up over time.

  1. I always thought that lies have to be saved for the really important stuff, not wasted on minor things, but that’s just me.
But I think the CIA may be less concerned about with Trump’s lying than his being a possible Russian stooge, considering that Russia was for a long time one of the top CIA targets.

    • C’mon, they know he isn’t a Russian stooge. All of that so-called material was trumped up and the sources supplied almost make it sound like a joke. Its as if they had Rush Limbaugh as a source for some material against us.

  2. United States history and mythology is built on “alternative facts.” Nothing new. Mainstream news outlets provides “alternative facts” to the public every day. Occasionally someone gets a time out like Brian Williams, but then gets rehired to continue dispensing more “alternative facts.” And remember, if you “land under (fake) sniper fire in Bosnia” you still get to be Secretary of State and a ‘credible’ presidential candidate of the Democratic Party. Got to love America. Trump is, so far, much better at slight of hand media parlor tricks, and the whole fucking country is foaming at the mouth with jealousy.

  3. Quite the first seven days. And the winner is… Alternative facts.

    • Actually, if you look at what has been done so far, it is quite little, most of it for show, kind of like “See. I am fulfilling my campaign promises.” This is similar to the GOP House repealing Obamacare 50+ times.

I think Trump may be more saavy that we thought. I think Pence is impeachment insurance. Now, that guy is scary. and he looks like he has just bitten into a lemon all of the time.

      • I have believed that Trump knows exactly what he is doing from the moment he first announced he was running. He continues to outsmart everyone, and is not unprepared for this job. I agree about Pence … a true religious fascist that most fear more than Trump.

      • All show. It’s hilarious.

Don’t expect to hear anything else about Obamacare for a looong while.

        • Oh, I am counting on their ability to not help themselves. They will be plunging over many cliffs shortly. They still are getting organized.

Do realize that Trump is not a Republican and the Repubs rather despise the man. Plus they didn’t expect him to win, so they haven’t exactly hit the ground running. Look for Congress to dust off some of their old tried and failed legislation to take another whack for now. And, all Hell is going to break loose if any shenanigans occur on the GOP side of a Supreme Court nomination.

But, then, they can’t help themselves.

The one thing I regret is we can’t charge all of you in the rest of the world an admission fee just to watch.

PS The thing I find amazing is the Repubs complaining about obstructionism. World Class Gall!

          • Indeed.

Can Schumer really keep the seat vacant, as he’s threatening (and which he should do)?

            • I do not trust Mr. Schumer, he is another “new Democrat.” For starters, they should stall the nomination as long as the GOP did so they are back to even, and then if an unreasonable candidate is offered, vote him down. Obama made the mistake of placing moderates on to the court, conservatives won’t do that. They do not bring knives to a gun fight.

Oh, and the “new rule” the Senate Dems put through, that judicial nominees only require a simple majority, that doesn’t apply to Supreme Court nominees, who can still be filibustered.

              • Schumer is my senator, completely owned by corporate interests, or in other words, a typical good for nothing neoliberal.

                • I like the idea one guy had that our elected representatives had to wear jackets like the NASCAR guys do, except that the size of the patches had to be proportional to the donations while in office. One patch, front and center, had to be “individual donors from withing my district.”

Probably too much trouble as they would constantly being changing the sizes of patches based upon what issues are in front of Congress. Maybe we should just have credit card slots implanted into their chests.

                  • One of the best and funniest ideas I’ve heard! Fits with pro-sports teams who are now beginning to wear corporate logos on their jerseys.

              • Ah, so, technically, they could hold the seat open. Interesting. The GOP deserves that return treatment. What they did was appalling.

                • Agreed. And so far, there has been no penalty, so that will encourage them to push harder on the boundaries of tradition … the party of tradition, that is.
