Obamacare Will Reduce Number of Workers! Good!

“The Congressional Budget Office released a report predicting that because of the Affordable Care Act, the economy will have 2.3 million fewer full-time workers in 2021, partly due to some opting to work fewer hours to avoid losing Medicaid or insurance subsidies. Republicans, of course, crowed that proved Obamacare was a job killer,” said the Washington Post.

Again, biased or possibly moronic Republicans can’t tell the difference between workers and jobs. Those workers, presumably voluntarily giving up their jobs or extra work hours they were holding only to secure the fringe benefit of health insurance, will in actuality provide jobs for 2.3 million people who desperately want one.

In fact, if 2.3 million jobs were to be created today, they would immediately be snapped up. No business would lack for willing and able applicants. The net effect of this Obamacare result is that the unemployment rate will drop.

  1. Government command and control always leads to economic disaster.

ObamaCare was designed to establish command and control over American society.

Economic failure is now a given until ObamaCare is repealed.

    • How is providing 2.3 million jobs to the jobless a disaster? In case you don’t know, the overtime laws were created to make overtime work more expensive so that instead of just working one’s employees for more hours, one had an incentive to higher more people; in other words it was a jobs regulation, a share the wealth of work piece of legislation. So, Obamacare allows the equivalent of 2.3 million people not to have to work, just to secure health insurance and you say that is a bad thing. Amazing.

      • Stephen,

        ObamaCare is a proven disaster.

Obama lied like a dog to all of America. Or haven’t you heard?

If you believe President Obama, you’ll believe anything.

ObamaCare forces employers to hire only part-time workers (30 hours per week).

How is a 25% cut in America’s standard of living not a job killer.

        • silence> Prove the ACA is a “proven disaster”. It hasn’t even been fully implemented yet and a great many people haven’t even had the chance to use the policies they purchased through it. Given that FACT it impossible to say it is a proven disaster.

Obamacare does NOT “force” employers to hire only full-time workers. That would be an employer’s choice. And just to let you know this reduction in hours based on employees’ choices that the CBO talked about, that “job lock” was touted by the GOP as something ANY healthcare reform should address. The GOP was concerned over job-lock during the initial health care reform debate before the ACA was created. And NOW it seems Obamacare is unlocking it, for lack of a better term. Paul Ryan and Jon McCain are on record saying that job-lock is a major concern. The fact that Ryan and other Republicans are deriding it only shows the blatant hypocrisy exhibited in their ranks. And the mere fact that you believe in them means “you’ll believe anything.”

          • Potato,

ObamaCare is a proven disaster because President and candidate Obama had to lie to get it passed.

ObamaCare is a proven disaster because President Obama had to violate the US Constitution and change the law multiple times (right before elections, no less) after Congress passed the law.

The execute cannot unilaterally change the law since creating law is the exclusive power of the legislative branch of government.

From the very beginning President Obama was handing out wavers to ObamaCare to any corporation or union who donated money to his campaign.

If Congress passes a law that can unilaterally be changed at any time for any reason by the executive branch than our government is completely lawless.

          • MPC,

Welcome back, by the way. And I do not recommend you get into an argument with SOM as it will lead nowhere. He seems to have adopted several of our websites to prove we are wrong using talking points from Fox News and the Catholic Church or some he/she possibly just makes up.

            • ” He seems to have adopted several of our websites to prove we are wrong using talking points from Fox News and the Catholic Church … “

Actually Stephen, all I’ve seen thus far that SOM has done is validate a quote from author JK Rowling that says “you could claim that anything’s real if the only basis for believing in it is that nobody’s proved it doesn’t exist!”

              • Basically this is the “god of the gaps” argument. “because you can’t explain … I win.”

                • I knew there was a phrase that explained this condition. Thanks for reminding of it. “god of the gaps”, “god of the gaps”, “god of the gaps”, “god of the gaps”, “god of the gaps”, …. If I keep saying it over and over again it might stick. 🙂

                  • Woody,

Atheism is the ultimate in “god of the gaps” argumentation.

“There’s no evidence therefore God doesn’t exist and that means everything happened all by itself.”

Such bizarre thinking is why no amount of proof will every mean anything to an atheist.

    • SOM,

Silly absolutes that you make up are not real truths. They’re part of your fantasy world.

      • Woody,

Economic and political illiteracy aren’t the only reasons people still believe that government command and control can lead to anything but total disaster.

A complete ignorance of history is also reason people still believe in command and control.

The catastrophic failures of the Soviet Union, Maoist China, Cuba, Cambodia, Viet Nam provide proof that command and control leads to economic catastrophe every time and every where it is tried.

The United States rose further, faster, and in less time than any nation or empire in human history.

That’s because of the economic liberty provided by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

We ain’t to this point yet laddie so quit making such silly comparisons. But you know if we do wound up here it will be as Sinclair Lewis indicated that we’ll be led by those “wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

          • Woody,

I realize that as an atheist you think everything happens all by itself.

But in reality, prosperity and poverty happen for very specific reasons.

Tyranny and ignorance are what cause poverty.

That means that atheism is the road to abject poverty.

            ObamaCare is pure tyranny.

Therefore, it can only result in economic collapse.

            Comment by silenceofmind — February 5, 2014 @ 1:25 pm | Reply

    • No, SOM, Obamacare was created to drive YOU crazy, make YOU broke, and establish government control over YOU specifically. If you read the all the 2400 pages of the law carefully, then read it backwards by reading only each 29th letter of the document, you will see the REAL conspiracy.

      • X,

Juxtaposing the ridiculous next what is common sense, reasonable and proven is what atheists do in lieu of an actual argument.

Atheists always bellyache about the absence of proof.

Yet when it comes to hoaxes like man-made global warming and ObamaCare, atheists treat undeniable proof with just as much disdain as not having any proof at all.

That type of irrationality is why atheism has gained the reputation as a mental disorder.

        • Sorry laddie,

There’s more physical proof about anthropogenic global warming than there is about your imaginary friend in the sky. Not stating any “absolutes” here. Just saying that there’s is a preponderance of physical evidence that says it is “very likely” that increased global warming is the result of man’s activities whereas you’ve got squat in terms of physical evidence to validate your claims about a Biblical god.

But who needs such proof when you have you imagination and an inordinate amount of fear of being cast into a hellish fire if you merely look under stones other than those that the church has laid down for you?

          • Woody,

The lead global warming scientists, Michael Mann of Penn State University and Phil Jones of East Anglia University were busted by a hacker a few years ago.

The hacker released their emails to the public.

In those emails Mann and Jones discuss their efforts at falsifying climate data and their efforts to corrupt peer review.

In their own words, Mann and Jones prove that global warming is a hoax.

The UN was also busted for publishing propaganda instead of scientific finding concerning man-made global warming.

Further, since solar activity has dropped off to a point not seen for nearly 400 years, we can expect long, cold winters for the foreseeable future.

So the science and the revelations of corruption among those pushing global warming prove that man-made global warming is a hoax.

        • You’re right, we atheists are just not comfortable with making the undeniable self-proving arguments like “Obamacare is a disaster because it’s a disaster” or “God did it”.
P.S. always wanted to ask, if the mind is silent, what part of your body makes your arguments?
