Who was The Greatest Republican President?

If you ask most any Republican, “who was the greatest Republican president of the U.S.,” my guess is many would say Ronald Reagan, which is sad as the greatest Republican President, hands down, was Abraham Lincoln. If you ask that same Republican what they think of labor unions, I suspect you won’t hear anything positive, which contradicts President Lincoln specifically.

“All that serves labor serves the Nation. All that harms is treason.
If a man tells you he loves America, yet hates labor he is a liar.
If a man tells you he trusts America, yet fears labor, he is a fool.
There is no America without labor, and to fleece the one is to rob the other.”
Abraham Lincoln

It goes to show you to what degree that this Republican Party has sold out to the monied/corporate interests. There is no reason for ordinary hard-working Americans to hate labor unions so. Labor unions are working hard to better the lives of ordinary people. Why is it, do you suppose, that the conservative attack on labor unions coincided with the stagnation of middle class wages. Do you think that was a coincidence? The conservatives responsible for the diminishment of the unions didn’t think so, which is why they put it in writing (the Powell Memorandum advocated disempowering labor unions). Why was it that those attacks were paid for by the richest people in the country? Was it because of their love for the working class? I don’t think so.

  3. Democrats should claim Lincoln, if for no other reason than to drive Teapublicans insane.
