Boehner Has to Go

John Boehner is a moderate Republican, what some call a “country club Republican.” In different times he could have been an adequate Speaker of the House of Representatives. Currently he is being humiliated by the right wing of his own party, most currently being blind-sided by opposition to a Farm Bill inside his own party (a Farm Bill!).

Boehner could stay and continue being humiliated . . . and ineffective . . . but I feel for the guy. I think we would be all better off if he were to step aside and allow one of the Tea Party stalwarts to lead for a while. Until we put the head clowns in the clown car in charge we will not get this out of our system. Put the Tea Party in charge of the House and then the people who voted for them will see exactly what they voted for. Boehner’s attempts to cover up their embarrassments are only delaying the time when more sensible Republicans are to be elected, if not in all of their cushy gerrymandered districts then in enough districts so that their caucus can have a coherent legislative program.

If JB decides to stick it out, I want to set up a pool to see if they repeal Obamacare 50 times (currently they are at 37).

  1. I like it! Bachmann’s leaving, so who would suggest?

    • How about Louie Gohmert from Texas … or Peter King from Iowa? The pickings are so rich!

Sorry to hear about the public unreat in your country … and sometimes people need to stand up and say “we are not getting enough attention,” get mollified for a couple of months and then back to the corporations running things.

It sure goes to show the wisdom of the Olympic Committee picking hosts for the Games who are ready for the spotlight (and bankruptcy).

      • I said it right from the beginning that Brazil was not ready… especially not emotionally. They HATE criticism and have no idea what is coming.

        • I am beginning to dislike major sporting events. We might be better off if we stuck with our traditional sports and entertained ourselves regionally.

          • I began writing a comedy piece years ago where the Olympics had split into two: a traditional one (amateur, no drugs, no advertising), and a Freak Olympics where ‘athletes’ took whatever drugs they liked and ran the 100 in under 6 seconds.

            • Did it star “Hans and Franz”?

              • I just had to look that up 🙂

                • Sorry, cultural disconnect. Hans and Franz were two characters in Saturday Night Live skits (played by Dana Garvey and Kevin Neelson, I believe). They wore grey sweats stuffed with rags to imitate muscles and had Arnold Swartzeneger accents. One skit involved the All Drugs Legal Olympics (whatever) in which Franz tries to lift a very heavy weight and pulls both of his arms off (the joints of which continued to spurt fake blood for the rest of the skit).

This skit is considered high culture in the U.S. which is why I thought you would be familiar with it.
