I rarely reblog pieces but Robert Nielsen from Ireland has painted a portrait of what having a Christian religion mixed into a nation’s politics brings. Please read this.

Legacy of the Catholic Church

  1. Thank you for the link. I hope everyone who wishes for a society based on religious ethos reads this. This is what happens when a Church dominates a country. Its not pretty.

    • I am sorry you had to live through such a nightmare, but my hope is that your example will dissuade other Christians of the idea of mixing religion and politics. (It is too late for Islam.)

Being a quarter Irish in descent I have an affinity for Ireland and its people, who have suffered so much at the hands of the Churches, English kings, etc. Yet the Irish people are, while a bit fatalistic, still cheerful and welcoming and quite resilient.
